Maersk : Digital Container release to be launched in German Ports

A.P. Moller Maersk (Maersk) has revealed that a new container release process is set to take effect at Germany’s key seaports — Hamburg, Bremerhaven, and Wilhelmshaven.

From 1 October 2025, the system will replace PINs with a secure, traceable digital release order.

The new system enhances supply chain security by allowing only one verified party per container pickup.

The “German Ports” digital platform will facilitate the process, standardise release procedures across terminals, and align with systems used by terminal operators.
