JNPA Chairman & DFCCIL-MD deliberates on latest progress of soon-to-be-completed Vaitarna–JNPT section

Navi Mumbai - Shri Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), met Shri Gaurav Dayal, Chairman, and Shri Ravish Kumar Singh, Deputy Chairperson, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPT), at Mumbai, and apprised them of the latest progress on the soon-to-be-completed critical Vaitarna–JNPT section.

Detailed discussions were held on the seamless connectivity of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) with JNPT Port, underlining its strategic importance for rail-based freight movement. Shri Praveen Kumar was accompanied by Shri Anurag Sharma, Director (Infrastructure), and senior officers including Shri Manish Kumar Awasthy, Executive Director (Infrastructure); Shri Sandesh Shrivastava, Executive Director (Project); Shri Vikas Kumar, Chief General Manager (Mumbai); and Shri Arvind Nagar, JGM (OP&BD). During the meeting, Shri Praveen Kumar also presented the DFCCIL Coffee Table Book to the Chairman, JNPT, highlighting the organisation’s journey and transforming India’s freight infrastructure. The Chairman, JNPT, expressed keen interest in the project and highlighted the wide-ranging benefits of this connectivity. This strategic linkage is expected to enhance modal shift from road to rail, accelerate EXIM trade growth, and significantly strengthen rail-based logistics—providing a major boost to the cargo handling ecosystem by improving operational efficiency, capacity, and the overall competitiveness of freight movement through JNPT.
