
Copenhagen - Global container shipping major A.P. Moller–Maersk has placed an order for eight 18,600-TEU container vessels at New Times Shipbuilding in China, reinforcing its long-term fleet renewal and capacity optimisation strategy.
The newbuilds are expected to be delivered from 2028 onwards and will feature dual-fuel, methanol-ready technology, in line with Maersk’s commitment to decarbonising its ocean fleet. The vessels are designed to replace older tonnage rather than drive net capacity growth, supporting the group’s focus on efficiency and emissions reduction.
