New Delhi - The Central government’s proposed Container Manufacturing Assistance Scheme (CMAS) aims to strengthen domestic container production, reduce India’s dependence on imported empty containers and generate more than 53,000 jobs, according to an official statement.

The scheme is expected to create around 3,000 direct jobs and more than 50,000 indirect employment opportunities across container manufacturing and allied industries. The employment potential is expected to extend to suppliers and supporting sectors involved in components and logistics equipment.

The government estimates that the initiative could support investments of around ₹99,149 crore . . .
