BENGALURU : The air cargo service provider, Cargo Service Center (CSC) India inaugurated its custom bonded 10,000 sq ft warehouse inside the Cargo Village of Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL).
The warehouse under the jurisdiction of the city commissionerate, Bengaluru Customs is the first-ever public bonded in-airport warehouse in India.
Expected to increase the ease of doing business in the Bengaluru Airport, the public bonded warehouse will enable re-export of goods, long term storage of bonded cargo without extra duties, assist partial clearances and allow repacking and relabeling.
M Srinivas, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Customs, Bengaluru, virtually inaugurated the facility in the presence of officials from BIAL, CSC, Customs, Federation of Freight Forwarders' Associations in India (FFFAI) and Air Cargo Agents Association of India (ACCAI).
Air cargo agents’ community thanked CSC India and BIAL for the facility, while the freight forwarding community noted that trade facilitation is what drives the market even if it comes with a price.
“The facility would help multinational companies, industries including electronics & pharmaceuticals in the state of Karnataka to transport and store their cargo in a more convenient method,” said, M Srinivas.
He also highlighted the measures taken by Indian Customs including the faceless assessment program to streamline the procedures.
