
NEW DELHI: India plans to significantly expand sea cargo-handling capacity by strengthening linkages between ports and road, rail and inland waterways, the Economic Survey 2025–26, tabled in Parliament said recently.According to the Survey, the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision aims to improve port efficiency, reduce turnaround times and lower logistics costs through coordinated infrastructure development across transport modes. Ports are being positioned as central nodes in an integrated logistics framework to support rising trade volumes and cargo movement.Beyond capacity expansion, the Survey highlighted the importance of improving hinterland connectivity.
