

MUMBAI: APM Terminals Mumbai also known as Gateway Terminals India (GTI), has taken several steps to ensure safety of the employees and visitors at the terminal. The terminal is one of the five container terminals operating at Nhava Sheva’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT).
APM Terminals Mumbai has begun temperature screening for all who are entering the port, be it employees or outsiders. All Port users are being sensitized about COVID-19 and precautions to be taken like social distancing, sanitising the hands regularly, wearing protective mask etc to contain the spread of pandemic.
All public areas have been closed, packed food is being served at the canteen to ease the crowd and social distancing norms have been enforced in the canteen. A shoe sanitisation kiosk and a Disinfection Tunnel for full body disinfection have also been set up at the terminal. In view of the lockdown, refreshments have been arranged for the drivers who are coming to the port from far off.
The port is operating as per the stringent guidelines provided by the DG Shipping, Government of India and other statutory bodies/administration to ensure that all
preventive health and safety checks are followed. Only business critical visits are permitted at the terminal on prior approval and visitors are undergoing health screening at port entry/exit to ensure the safety of the employees and the visitors.
According to, Mr Girish Aggarwal, Chief Operating Officer, APM Terminals Mumbai, “Ports and terminals fall in essential service as they help handle essential goods and commodities. In order to maintain the supply chains, we continue to operate safely. The safety of the employees and visitors is our prime objective along with honouring our obligation to the customers. We are taking adequate precautions to ensure safe operations at the terminal.”
