VO Chidambaranar Port creates new record in single day handling at North Cargo Berth-I

TUTICORIN: V O Chidambaranar Port Trust created a new record by clocking 59,839 Metric Tonnes of Thermal Coal in a day at North Cargo Berth -I from the vessel M.V. Aqua Knight on 27 January 2019, surpassing the previous Single Day record of 51,413 Metric Tonnes of Coal handled at Berth-9 from the vessel MV. Ultra Gujarat on 14 June 2018. Earlier, North Cargo Berth -I has handled 48,701 Metric Tonnes of Thermal Coal in a single day on 20 March 2018.

North Cargo Berth -I, the captive berth of NLC Tamilnadu Power Ltd., (NTPL) has handled 3.60 Million Tonnes of Thermal Coal during the financial year 2017-18 and 2.73 Million Tonnes of Thermal Coal during the current financial year up to December, 2018.

The Shipping Agent for the above vessel was GAC Shipping (India) Pvt. Ltd., and the Handling Agent for NTPL was Chennai Radha Engineering Works.

Chidambaranar Port Trust while thanking the synergy exhibited by the stakeholders who have contributed to achieve this record conveyed that this Port is continuously striving to achieve improvement in performance and productivity in order to attract more volume of traffic through the Port.
