Vadodara DFCCIL identified five stations as potential Freight Terminals

VADODARA : The Vadodara unit of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) is working on developing freight terminals at stations to tap the nearby industrial freight.

Mr. Manish Gupta, general manager (coordination), DFCCIL, Vadodara, said Makarpura, Varedia, New Sanjali, New Gothan and New Udhana have been identified as potential points for such terminals and the tendering process has been initiated.

“We also trying to develop green corridor throughout the stretch from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal (JNPT), Mumbai to Dadri. Solar energy will be used at maximum stations to make them energy neutral,” he said.

The trial run of goods train on the newly constructed railway electrified section connecting 115km stretch between Gothangam and Makarpura has been started.

The new railway section spanning 135km through Surat, Bharuch and Vadodara districts of Gujarat will see regular movement of double stack goods trains in this financial year itself. The unit won the running efficiency shield of the year 2022-23 for the first time.The shield recognizes new initiatives taken by the unit as it is working towards completion of balance work on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).

“Vadodara unit has taken many new initiatives like transition system using geocell in bridge approaches, various new methods of bridge protection and slope protection work among others,” said Gupta.
