
MUMBAI: Eight shipping agencies participated in the MANSA OG Trophy Cricket Tournament held this week at Oval Maidan, Churchgate with Mitsutor Shipping Agency lifting the trophy against NYK Line (India) Pvt. Ltd in the final match.
The other teams that participated in the tournament include GAC Shipping India, Samudra Marine Services, Wilhelmsen Maritime Services, Parekh Marine Services, Atlantic Global Shipping, J. M. Baxi & Co.
“The sporting event was a friendly get-together to build relations and camaraderie besides an opportunity to relax and escape from the normal strenuous routine for the members and port officials,” said Captain Amit Wason, President, Maritime Association of Nationwide Shipping Agencies (MANSA).
Krishna Shete from Parekh Marine, Vaibhav Jadhav from NYK Line were named as the Best Batsman and Best Bowler while Sangam Rakshikar of Mitsutor Shipping and Chandan Bhagat at NYK Line were named as Man of Match and Best Fielder, respectively.
On the occasion, Former Traffic Manager A.K. Bose and Former Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer K.G. Nath at Mumbai Port, who have now been elevated as Deputy Chairman of Paradip Port and New Mangalore Port Trust, respectively, were felicitated.
A shawl and a plaque were presented to both A. K. Bose and K. G. Nath in recognition of their good work and successful achievement on being promoted as Deputy Chairman at the hands of Ronak Shetty, Managing Director, Atlantic Global Shipping Pvt. Ltd. and Hiren C. Ved, Vice-President, MANSA, who also appreciated the efforts puts in by the sports and cultural committee to make this annual event successful.
During their stint at Mumbai Port, Bose was instrumental in improving the port efficiency within the available resources while Nath was influential in protecting the financial health of the port which was then going through tough period due to extreme competition from neighbouring Ports.
