MUMBAI: Qatar Navigation Lines (QNL) have announced to expand their NVOCC operations from India to Middle East and UAE destinations. Qatar Navigation Lines have signed their new agency agreement effective from 13th June 2015 and have appointed Seatrade Shipping India Pvt. Ltd. (a Samsara Group company) as their General Agent in India. All the NVOCC services will be handled by Seatrade Shipping.
In an interview with Daily Shipping Times, Mr. Jan Mortensen, Vice President, Container Shipping said effective 13th June 2015, QNL will (enhance our regular services in India incl JNPT to and from Jebel Ali, Doha, Sohar (Oman), Bahrain, Kuwait and other Ports in Middle East. QNL is also looking at expansion plans which will extend their services to South East Asia very shortly, he added.
Mr. Jan Mortensen further added that due to a steady increase in trade between India and Qatar, it is a very good opportunity for us to grow in India, in the years to come, he said.
Qatar Navigation Line has had a strong presence in India over a decade. We would like to further develop our activity in India, he added which also includes a broader coverage of India East Coast region. The move will further facilitate the thriving trade activities between the two countries that have witnessed a phenomenal growth in the recent years. He also informed QNL currently operates a container fleet of 2400 units comprised of 20' Standard Dry Containers, 40'High Cube Dry Containers and 40' High Cube Refrigerated Containers as well as, Special Equipments (Open Top and
Flat Racks).. The company was incorporated in 1957 and is headquartered in Doha, Qatar.
Lastly, Mr. Jan Mortensen said, “We have strengthened our presence in India by appointing Seatrade Shipping India Pvt. Ltd. a Samsara Group company who have over 55 offices all over India, with a wide network and experienced team to handle the operations.” We can now offer services to all our clients under one roof which will simplify operations and allow for faster expansion in the Indian market, he added.
