NAVI MUMBAI: JNPT has issued an circular on 2nd June stating that, “IMD has issued a cyclone warning for the area and JNPT is likely to be experience heavy weather and sustained high wind speeds of 5-60 knots. The Following steps are being implemented to mitigate the impact of the cyclone on the Port property and Ships in JNPT waters.
1. It is planned to sail out all the berthed vessels by 2300hrs on 2nd June 2020 after completion of cargo work.
2. All inward movement will be suspended till easing of weather condition
3. All dredging related crafts are to be shifted to sheltered water in Mora/Belapur creek/high sea as the case may be.
4. All the ships anchored in the outer anchorage bravo East- West are hereby advised to take all the necessary steps for their safety which includes steaming out to high seas. The vessels are to inform all the stakeholders.
5. All Terminals to secure their cargo gear and other related equipment and ensure compliance of heavy weather contingency plan.
6. Passenger launch service from Ferry wharf to JNPT suspended wef1800hrs 2nd June till further notice.
Similar precautionary measures have been taken by the Mumbai Port Authorities as well.
