ANTWERP: Since 14 March 2022, a new version of the port police regulations has been in effect. You will notice immediately that the known structure has gone and has been replaced by a new structure.
With the revision, Port of Antwerp has joined the structure of the Port of Zeebrugge's port police regulations. Things have also changed in terms of content. Accordingly, Port of Antwerp's Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) is now permanently anchored. Airspace management has been given a clear interpretation.
There are stricter guidelines for pleasure craft in the harbour. The access control for port operators has also been expanded.
In addition, there are also a lot of changes in terms of hazardous goods. For example, the container freight station (CFS) regime will disappear, as will highly toxic gases and the mandatory training for declarations. The retention period for hazardous goods has been adjusted and expanded.
As such, the new port police regulation builds upon existing principles rather than making major changes. The regulations make it clear to all port users in a transparent way what is and what is not allowed in the port area.
