Mumbai - Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, the state-owned entity that runs India’s second busiest container gateway at Nhava Sheva near Mumbai, is looking to make the port “the most efficient and least expensive in India and the world”.

“That is our ambition,” Shri Unmesh Wagh, IRS, Chairman, J N Port Authority was recently quoted in an interview.

Wagh stated that public-private partnership (PPP) was the “way forward for the Indian ports sector and that ports should be run on the landlord model”.
