MUMBAI : Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT), which is jointly managed by JM Baxi and CMA Terminals, has announced that the operations at the terminal of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) will commence from 10th February 2023. The Container Terminal will begin to accept export containers from 6th February.
NSFT is revamping the existing Container Terminal JNPCT in two phases and is expected to be fully completed by the fourth quarter of 2024.
Initially, NFST will be operating on berth of 340 meters with 5 quay cranes for handling container vessels and will be subsequently strengthened further. The remaining berth area will be increase the rail span from the current 20 meters to 30 meters.
Upon completion, the terminal will have 9 quay cranes, 27 RTGCs and 3 RMGCs for operation. NSFT will then have a total quay length of 680 meters with an annual container handling capacity of 1.8 million TEUs.
This will enable NSFT to handle larger container vessels of the super Post Panamax category and cater to the increasing needs of the trade.
