
NEW DELHI: The National Logistics Portal is in the final stages of development and is one of the key projects the Logistics Department of Commerce Ministry has undertaken on priority. “We are trying to build a platform of platforms. The portal will provide a base software accessible for all industry members to use. Separately we are also creating a servicing tower, which will provide Multi-Modal services on one platform for the industry,” said
Mr. N. Sivasailam, Special Secretary, Department of Logistics - Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Mr. Sivasailam also introduced the logistics tool, which will be powered by crowd-sourced information – with anonymous tracking inputs – to benefit all industry members who use the app. He added, “The data from various logistics drivers will allow industry to start identifying heat maps across the Country.”
The logistics sector which has been growing at a CAGR of 10% is a dynamic and vibrant sector stated Mr. N. Sivasailam, at the inaugural launch of the Logistics Summit 2019. Speaking at the event,
Mr. Sivasailam urged the industry to focus on skilling the youth, along with encouraging large sectoral funding to greatly impact the entire Indian logistics sector. He stated that the Department of Logistics and the Government have been working on various projects as part of the National Action Plan.
In his address, Mr. R. Dinesh, Chairman CII Institute of Logistics Advisory Council highlighted the need for set standards in the logistics sector. “Technology usage and leveraging of information will be paramount towards the growth of this sector,” he added.
