MUMBAI: The entire process of controlling the acquisition, storage and delivery of resources will have a new outlook with the newly unveiled National Logistics Policy 2022, said Shri Karunakar Shetty, Vice President – MACCIA (Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture) in his reaction to the launch of National Logistics Policy.
“The entire sector will see the focus being given to the processes like re-engineering, digitisation and Multi Modal transport, unlike earlier.
The good news is that with this policy the logistics stands to be an organised sector with this policy being abiding force to the sector. I am sure in the coming few years we can foresee our Country competing amongst top 10 in Logistics Perfomance Index.
This policy will help make the sector an integrated, cost efficient, and sustainable logistics eco system in the country as it aims in streamlining the rules and addressing the supply side constraints.
This policy aims at boosting the various government inititiatives like PM Gati Shakti, Sagarmala project etc...which can distinctively help us in competing globally cutting down the logistics cost and building the world class infrastructure.
Currently, the logistics cost to GDP of our country is around 15% much higher as compared to other developed countries. With this policy government will aim to reduce the logistics cost to single digit.
Also, when comparing to world class port facilities our country will get major boost due to this policy.
Collectively this policy will help us in designing the India where a major focus will be on increasing the exports, creating a competitive domestic market, compliment the initiatives like Make in India. This will help our GDP flourish and create a road map for achieving our
Hon. Prime Minister’s aim of 5 trillion dollar economy.
