

MUMBAI: Mumbai Port has created a record in shipment of sugar in bulk by loading 7004 MT in a single day on 15 January, 2019.
According to a media statement of Mumbai Port Trust, this was made possible due to the coordinated efforts of the Port Officials, Port Labour and Srinath Agencies, the Handling Agent.
Mumbai Port is expected to handle about 8 lakh MT sugar in the next nine months and has geared up to handle future shipments. Mumbai Port having expertise in handling of Bulk, breakbulk and Project cargo started handling of Raw Sugar in bags and bulk from last month.
As on date, two vessels MV Rising and MV Westgate has sailed for Somalia and Chittagong, Bangladesh after loading of 16095 MT and 26868 MT respectively.
Most of the sugar has been received in the port from Indapur and Baramati through Railway Wagons. The cargo after unloading from Wagons is stored in the Sheds, where Port has granted concessional 30 free days storage for sugar exclusively.
