MUMBAI : Maritime Association of Nationwide Shipping Agencies (MANSA) has lauded Mumbai Port and its Indira Container Terminal Pvt Ltd’s (ICTPL) initiative to introduce a vessel berthing facility at night at the offshore container terminal.

The first such vessel M.V. Precious Ace was berthed on April 30 at 2240 hours and sailed out on May 3 at 0018 hours local time. During the 36-hour operations, the Ro-Ro vessel managed to load 2105 vehicles and 378 packages with clear visibility.

The offshore Indira container terminal of Mumbai Port successfully discharged the operations smoothly with due diligent coordination between agents, liners and OEMs to help speed up vessel movements and turnaround time.

The 200-metre overall length vessel with gross registered tonnage of 59,490 MT, was able to complete loading earlier than expected, as the introduction of the vessels berthing facility at night led to quick turnaround time and the vessel could sail out early.
