MUMBAI : MANSA organized a glittering Valedictory function on May 4, 2012.
The first Batch of Trainees of the ‘Foundation Course on Shipping Logistics’ were conducted by MANSA from April 16 - 28, 2012.
The function was attended by the shipping dignitaries like Mr. S. Hajara, Chairman & Managing Director, SCI, Capt. Avinash Batra, Capt. Somesh Batra, Mr. Naresh Parekh, Past Presidents & the Executive Committee Members of MANSA apart from the Participants and the Course Deliverer.
The Chief Guest of the function was Mr. S. Hajara, who handed over the Certificates to the successful participants. Also Capt. Avinash Batra gave away some of the Certificates to the successful participants. Capt. Piyush Pal Singh, President MANSA while welcoming the Chief Guest spoke about the importance of the Training Course and said that MANSA was proud that it has instituted first of its kind Training Course for the Operations staff of its Members and the shipping fraternity.
Mr. T. V. Sowrirajan, the Course Deliverer spoke about the importance of Training and elucidated the importance of learning till the last breath and the value of positive thinking through 2 short stories. There is no stoppage in one's thinking process; innovative process for which training the mind becomes inseparable; he said.
He then declared Mr. Chetan S. Kanchan as the 'Person of the Batch' and said that Mr. Kanchan showed exemplary conduct and diligence and scored the highest marks in the examinations conducted.
The Chief Guest in his Valedictory Address stated that he was happy to note that MANSA has initiated in its earnestness; Training Programme to the benefit of the shipping trade. While appreciating the efforts of the Course Deliverer in bringing out a good training module, he narrated how as per person from the shipping line, he delivered many training courses to the Port Personnel and other Government dignitaries and there is therefore nothing surprising that MANSA opted for a Port man to deliver the training to its Members.
In the present day scenario logistics takes a prime place as everything connected with shipping forms integral part of the logistics he said. He further added that the shipping industry is the most vital link in the economic development of all the countries in the world and if shipping is taken out from the economics then there would be a chaotic situation as shipping costs form a miniscule part compared to other logistical costs and the whole world is dependant on the shipping logistics.
He concluded that learning is a continuous process and never ends.
He wished MANSA success in its endeavour to help the shipping trade by holding training programmes to expand their knowledge.
Mr. K. P. Unnikrishnan, Vice-President MANSA proposed the Vote of thanks.
It was also announced that the 2nd Training Course will be held at JNPT area from May 21, 2012 to June 2, 2012. The training will be conducted from Mon-Fri from 4-7 p.m. and on the 2 Saturdays from 2-7 p.m. The training fees for MANSA Members are Rs.6,742/ - per participant and for non-MANSA Members are Rs.8,427/- per participant. The President then exhorted the shipping fraternity to come forward and make use of the opportunity offered.
The valedictory function was celebrated by cutting the cake by the Chief Guest and a sumptuous high tea that followed.
