Maha Kumbh Mela gives boost to freight operations on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor

Kolkata - The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is giving fillip to the freight operations on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), which commenced services in November 2023. According to a senior official from Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd, the Indian Railways has diverted freight trains, usually plying on the normal railway network, on to the EDFC, in order to manage traffic and enable operations of more passenger trains for devotees.
