KAKINADA : Kakinada Container Terminal Pvt.Ltd.,(a jv between KIHPL, PSA-Singapore and Bothra Group), has achieved another milestone by handling export import container vessel M V “Frisia Alster” on accout of Maersk Line and Safmarine India.
The 1100 TEUs capacity vessel arrived on 20th March 2016 from Colombo for discharging 400 x 20' dry empty containers and 50 x 40' reefer empty containers on her maiden call and after completing her full discharge, vessel sailed on 22nd March 2016 to Haldia.
Maersk Line, a world leader in container trade and KCTPL have joined hands to offer regular feeder service for Colombo to export import trade at Kakinada, East Godavari, Guntur, Amaravati, Bhimavaram and surrounding hinterland.
The new serivce has come as a boon to the local export import trade and offers advantages, such as KCTPL is the closest Container Gateway Port for shipment of rice, seafoods, pharma and other SEZ hubs of South-East India, resulting in cost savings in transportation and transit time.
Convenience of container stuffing / destuffing services inside Kakinada deep water port offers cost advantages and opportunity for small exporters and importers for hassle free storage and shipment of their consignments without need to set up their own warehousing facilities.
With assured fortnightly services, exporters and importers can plan their shipment schedules and just in time logistics.
The closer road distance of KCTPL offers distinct advantage for high value perishable cargo like seafoods and other food products which require reefer containers.
The officials from the shipping line and terminal informed that the next vessel m.v. “Santa Fiorenza”is planned on 30th March 2016. Thereafter, an Export Import vessel would be calling on fornight basis.
The container line Maersk Line India Pvt Ltd a global leading shipping company and feeder operator FAR Shipping, Singapore, thanked the terminal for quick turn around and safe handling with mobile harbour crane on their maiden call at KCTPL, Kakinada.
KCTPL has expressed their gratitude to the Commissioner of Customs, Customs Preventive Commissionerate, Vijayawada, for his initiative, dynamic leadership and encouragement for promoting container freight services at Kakinada Port. the local customs formation, Dy. Commissioner, Asstt, Commisioner and all Senior Officers extended their full support for this new activity at Kakinada Port.
The local and surrounding exim trade has expressed their happiness at the pursuit of Export Import container services at Kakinada, which facilitates cost competitive logistics solution for cargo to shippers and importers in the East Godavari, West Godavari, Telangana and surrounding reigion.
The vessel agents Samsara Shipping, thanked KSPL Port Authorities and KCTPL for berthing of vessel on arrival and quick turnaround of vessel.
