Kamarajar Port handles Longest ODC Cargo at GCB

Chennai - Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) achieved a milestone on 8 October 2025 by handling a single unit of breakbulk cargo measuring 90 feet in length and weighing 280.02 tonnes — the longest Over-Dimensional Cargo (ODC) ever handled at its General Cargo Berth (GCB).

The project cargo, a Heat Boiler shipped from Constanta, Romania, was imported by L&T Energy Hydrocarbon, Kattupalli.

The Marine Department ensured safe unloading by following safety SOPs and deploying stabiliser pontoons, while the Traffic Division enabled smooth evacuation using an 18-axle long trailer after clearing internal port roads . . .
