H. E. Shri K. Sankaranarayanan, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra inaugurated the new office

 
MUMBAI: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), which operates India’s largest container port, inaugurated its new office in Mumbai at World Trade Centre on May 18, 2012.
 
The function started with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, H. E. Shri K. Sankaranarayanan, along with Chairman of JNP, Shri L. Radhakrishnan,Shri C. S. Prasad, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone II, Shri. Michael Pinto, Former Secretary, Minister of Shipping, GoI, Shri. S. S. Hussain, Ex - JNP Chairman and Shri S Hajara, Chairman & Managing Director, SCI. Also present were Capt. Piyush Pal Singh, President MANSA, Shri Ashish Pednekar, President, MACCIA, Shri.  Nailesh Gandhi, President of BCHAA and Capt. Somesh Batra. The function was well attended by JNP Trustees, Senior Govt. Officials, employees of JNP and top dignitaries of Shipping & Maritime Fraternity.
 
Followed by the National Anthem, there was a lighting ceremony of the lamp by the Governor, along with Shri L. Radhakrishnan and Shri Michael Pinto. During this special occasion, there was a small devotional track sung by Indira Naik.
 
Shri L. Radhakrishnan, IAS, Chairman, JNPT in his welcome speech stated that the new office space is indicative of the way JNPT has been growing and is poised to a huge leap forward.  For the last 32 years, the 11th floor Raheja Centre premises functioned as the city office, but  with the growth of the Port, the space available was not enough (even to have cabin for  the Heads of Departments) .
 
Maintaining that, “It is a matter of pride & privilege for me to be present at the new office of JNP at World Trade Centre”, On behalf of JNP, I would welcome the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, H. E. Shri K. Sankaranaraynanji, who stands for his excellency. He added, “The new office which has better facilities would help JNP to hold meetings with its International and Indian Customers as well as receive the numerous delegation from the industry from India and abroad which interact with JNP frequently”.
