Navi Mumbai : Jawaharlal Nehru Port, the largest Container handling port in India has completed its 26 years of successful operations on May 26, 2015.
 
This year, the Port has achieved a new record in the history of JNP by handling 4.467 million TEUs of Container Traffic in 2014-15; the highest ever at JNP. JNPT aims to achieve a throughput of over 5 million TEUs in the current financial year 2015-16.
 
JN Port has plan to deepen its main harbour channel drought 15 metres from 14 metres to accommodate bigger size container vessels upto 9000 TEUs capacity.
 
JN Port has a bright future in the years to come with many new ongoing projects and other development projects being taken up by the Port.
 
The Port is poised to handle 10 million TEUs of Containers by the year 2020-21 and will be among the Top 10 Ports in the World. The upcoming projects 330m, Nhava Sheva India Gateway Terminal, 4th Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Multi Modal Logistics Park, Port Based SEZ, Golden Quadrilateral, Dedicated Freight Corridor are the important projects on the anvil.
 
Despite the challenges and the increasing competition, JN Port will continue to remain the country's No. 1 Container handling port and export import gateway.
