New Delhi - Over the last 12 years, total cargo handled across Major and Non-Major Ports increased from 1,052 MMT in 2014-15 to 1,668 MMT in 2025-26 (Provisional), a remarkable 59% growth, informs a Recent Communique from Ministry of Shipping. To encourage private participation, Ministry of Ports,Shipping and Waterways has laid down comprehensive policy guidelines for private sector participation in the Ports sector.
