MUMBAI: It was a full house at India Maritime Awards, the first edition held in Mumbai. “Magnificent & Memorable,” “Glorious & Glittering,” “Remarkable” beginning were some of comments made by the Maritime and Logistics fraternity who were present in large numbers to cheer and applaud the winners of India Maritime Awards.
The stage was perfectly set for the grand evening on 17th June at ITC Grand Maratha in Mumbai to launch India Maritime Awards - managed and organized by Daily Shipping Times - by taking a giant leap forward in felicitating some of the best companies and brightest individuals of the Maritime and Logistics industry in India.

Mr. Deepak Shetty (IRS), DG Shipping graced the Award function as Chief Guest, while Mr. Ravi Parmar (IAS), Chairman – Kandla Port Trust, Mr. Neeraj Bansal (IRS), Deputy Chairman – JNPT and Mr. Mukesh Oza, Group President & CEO – Samsara Group were the Guests of Honour.
The Jury Chairman and Jury Members were industry stalwarts with decades of rich experience in the Maritime and Logistics industry who really had some tough time in selecting the winners as there were large numbers of nominations received for certain categories. The Jury headed by Chairman Mr. Dinesh Lal, Director – AMI India Logistics comprised Capt. Vivek Anand, President – MANSA, Mr. Shantanu Bhadkamkar, President – MACCIA, Mr. Mark Fernandes, Partner – Sylvester & Co., Capt R.R. Iyer of Seahorse Ship Agencies and Mr. R. K. Rubin, MD – Transcon Freight Systems.
The eminent Jury Chairman Mr. Dinesh Lal with his vast knowledge base and experience of more than 4 decades besides other well experienced professional jury members had put in lot of efforts in terms of judging the deserving winners and achievers.
An insightful panel discussion themed “Redressal of all Maritime Issues via Single Window” moderated by Mr. Dinesh Lal included Mr. Neeraj Bansal, Mr. Mukesh Oza, Capt. Deepak Tewari, Chairman – CSLA, Mr. Samir J Shah, Chairman – FFFAI, Mr. Vivek Kele, President – AMTOI, Mr. Umesh Grover, Secretary General–CFSAI and Mr. Mark Fernandes.
In his keynote address, Mr. Shetty harped on the need of all the major associations of maritime industry coming together under one congregation to be heard in powers of corridor as a one collective voice. He also commended the efforts being made in this direction since last couple of year.
It was a great pleasure for the entire Shipping and Maritime industry in honouring Mr. Tushar Jani of SCA Group as the Logistics Personality of the Decade, Ms. Jhanvi Mehta of MSC Agency as the Woman Professional of the Year and Mr. Taro Vazirani of Sovereign Shipping Pvt. Ltd. in particular with a standing ovation as Lifetime Achievement Award.
