India eyes more Chabahar-like pacts: Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal

New Delhi - India aims to replicate the Chabahar port model in other strategic locations in the region to gain access to more such assets, said Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. India is actively exploring opportunities to enhance its maritime presence and trade connectivity, he was quoted as saying in an interview recently. Mr. Sonowal has signed a 10-year pact with Iranian authorities for a longterm bilateral contract to operate Chabahar port.
