This time we share an exclusive interview with Mr. Salim Khan, one of UAE’s leading businessman and owner of IMEX SHIPPING & LOGISTICS LLC.

Here are the edited excerpts of an exclusive interview with Mr. Salim Khan

Question: Tell us something about your company?

Answer: IMEX Shipping & Logistics LLC. was established in 2007. We are a 3PL & 4PL, providing supply chain management solutions, including international and domestic transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, freight forwarding and consolidator.

Question: Can you brief the infrastructure of your company?

Answer: IMEX has well designed logistic centers located in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA). The new state of the art facility is 16,500 square feet and is adjacent to the Sheikh Zayed Road with its own direct access from the main road. IMEX Shipping & Logistics is expanding to accommodate the business demand and to provide immediate delivery to customers ensuring that Just-In-Time delivery are satisfied.

Our workforce can provide specialised logistics support for project cargo movements, fairs and exhibitions.

Our motto – IMEX Logistics is firmly committed to provide its customers a comprehensive global logistics solution that could cost effectively meet their growing requirements.

Question: How did you get started off working in this industry and what do you enjoy most about your job?

Answer: I began my career in the freight industry 26 years ago, initially in operations. The beauty of this field is that every day is a new challenge, and you keep learning, no matter how much experience you have.

If you have flavor of passion for this industry then it’s inevitable. Every customer has their own unique requirements and finding a suitable logistics solution for them is challenging at times but we enjoy taking the pressure off the customer and putting them at ease with our expertise – particularly during project cargo movements where we are planning the entire operation and executing it with precision. This is a challenging but enjoyable task.

During the operation, sometimes overcoming the unforeseen hurdles makes doing the job successfully all the more satisfying.

Question: What were the milestones in the RECENT years?

Answer: The biggest milestone for IMEX was overcoming the recession period when it was truly survival of the fittest. We launched during this time and with the valued support and trust of our clients we managed to sustain our business successfully throughout this critical time with so many other businesses were running into trouble. Secondly, we have established IMEX Logistics in Mumbai – India.

Question: What is your future plans ?

Answer: We intend to expand our own offices in Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and we also plan to open new branch offices in Abu Dhabi & Sharjah.
