GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat Maritime University commenced its 2nd batch of Master of Law(LLM) and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) for the year 2020-21 and had organized the orientation programme on 2 November 2020, 2020. The following officials attended the orientation for the LLM and PGD students

 

1. Smt. Avantika Singh, IAS, VC & CEO

2. Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, who is also the Director General, National Maritime Foundation, a think tank of the Indian Navy. 

3. Capt. Pankaj Kapoor, Senior Partner – India Law Offices LLP who is also the member of NITI AAYOG committee for drafting the National Maritime Policy.

4. Prof.(Dr.) S Shanthakumar, Director – School of Maritime Law, Policy & Administration and also the Director of Prestigious Gujarat National Law University. 

 

It is pertinent to note that Gujarat Maritime University is the only university in India which is providing one year full time LLM degree in Maritime Law and International Trade law and one of the very few universities providing one year full time LLM degree in International Trade Law. GMU, in its second consecutive year attracted students from 14 states and is a national institute in its true sense catering to a diverse batch of students. The outstanding feature of the second batch of the programme was the fact that girls outnumbered the boys with the total batch having about 55% of girl students. The batch also has representation from 9 land locked states. With this composition that challenges the traditional male dominated scenario in the maritime industry, GMU is set to bring about many more radical changes in the sector. This geographical and gender diversity has made GMU as an institution stronger and has paved its path to become a national leader in Maritime education. For the LLM and PGD programme, GMU has tied up with the Erasmus University and the STC International, which are global institutes of repute. 

 

GMU would also be offering the Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Shipping and Logistics. For this, GMU has also collaborated with the reputed Copenhagen Business School of Denmark which is famous for its BLUE MBA programme. CBS is designing the overall syllabus for the MBA programme being offered by GMU.
