Export Trade between India & Bangladesh at Petrapole halted since July 1

July 3, 2020
Reading Time: < 1 minute

MUMBAI: The export activity at Petrapole has been stopped from morning of 1st July 2020 as Benapole CHA Association has denied to accept any export cargo from India. This move from the Bangladesh side is likely to continue unless India too begins accepting cargo from their side.

In fact, the exports from India commenced from 7th June but the imports from Bangladesh were obstructed citing health protocols despite an assurance from involved stakeholders.

In fact, more than 1500 export bound Trucks for Bangladesh are waiting on the Indian side due to this move.

Now the hope of resumption of trade between the two countries lies solely with India when the Ministry of Home Affairs directs the concerned authority for appropriate action.
