BENGALURU: Logistics Industry of Bangalore got a major boost with Private container and terminal Operator Distribution Logistics Infrastructure commencing operations as Private Freight Terminal (PFT) in Bengaluru region. The Logistics park situated next to Industrial catchment of Bangalore off Hosur road, handled its first container train inaugurated by Divisional Railways Manager (DRM) of Bengaluru division. Logistics Park of DLI commencing operation has been named as DLI Anekal being served by Maranayakahalli Railways station, which is constructed by DLI only and dedicated to Indian Railways network. The logistics facility shall provide cost & time effective logistics solution to the Bengaluru industry, while ensuring to support Government of India in its initiative to reduce carbon foot print for greener tomorrow and in ease of doing business to the trade besides contributing towards achieving target of 5 Trillion economy.
DLI, which is also a category 1 private container train operator carried tiles in its own container train from Morbi in Gujarat, location which manufacturers 90% of tiles supplied nationally, offering cost competitiveness compared to road not only to tiles trade but construction Industry as a whole in Bengaluru region. Speaking on this occasion DRM, Bengaluru Division of Indian railways Mr. Ashok Kumar Verma appreciated the investment made by DLI and stressed upon exploring opportunities in further movement of cargo by Rail through DLI's PFT, considering its location and cost advantage that it offers to the trade being Rail Linked terminal.
The logistics Park is ideally located next to South Bangalore adjoining Electronic city, which houses heavy industries and has easy access through Hosur Road and NICE road to Bidadi and Mysore region. The Integrated Logistics Park is expected to cater not only to the Industries located within Bengaluru but will also reduce logistics cost for industries located next to Hosur, Krishnagiri and other adjoining regions of Tamilnadu including Coimbatore and Salem.
