Mumbai - Director General of Maritime Administration, Shri Shyam Jagannathan, delivered the inaugural address at the BRICS Seafarers’ Forum 2026 in Mumbai, on the theme “Seafarers’ Unions Strengthening Global South Cooperation.”
In the year India chairs BRICS Seafarers Forum, DGMA reaffirmed India’s commitment to the safety, dignity and welfare of seafarers, spotlighting seafarer protection in conflict zones, action against criminalization and abandonment, and India’s growing role as a leading supplier of maritime talent, guided by the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
