Taiwan - CJ Logistics has joined forces with Evergreen Marine, a Taiwan-based container carrier, to boost its maritime transportation capabilities and expand cargo volume.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), according to CJ Logistics on Friday, via which CJ Logistic gains access to competitive rates and cargo space for container shipments between various destinations, including from Asian countries such as Korea, China, and Japan to the United States or Europe.

The duo will also dedicate their collaborative efforts in increasing their maritime transport network. They will jointly operate and innovate new services.

Evergreen Marine ranks as the sixth largest container carrier globally in terms of cargo capacity.

“The MOU is meaningful in terms of how it strengthens our competitiveness by capitalizing on the combined strengths of a integrated logistics company and a container shipping company,” a spokesperson from CJ Logistics said.

The MOU has also paved the way for collaboration with other shipping companies affiliated with the Ocean Alliance, the company added. Notable members of this alliance include Evergreen Marine, France’s CMA-CGM, Hong Kong-headquartered OOCL and China’s Cosco.
