TUTICORIN: V. O. Chidambaranar Port, which is one of the Indian Major Ports driving the economy of Southern Tamil Nadu, has created the previous financial year Container Traffic of 6.97 lakh TEUs on 13.03.2019, 18 days ahead during the current financial year.
The Port has achieved the record container traffic of 7.03 Lakh TEUs on 15.03.2019 with a growth of 6.46 % over the corresponding period of previous year and expected to reach 3rd position in Container handling among Major Ports.
For the performance, Shri T.K. Ramachandran, IAS., Chairman, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust thanked the Container Terminal Operators, Container Shipping Lines, Steamer Agents and Officers and employees of the Port who have contributed to achieve this record.
He also requested the stakeholders to continue the better performance in the future to achieve the Ministry’s Container Traffic target of 7.67 Lakh TEUs set for the financial year 2018-19.
