CHENNAI : Chennai Port is moving ahead with plans to develop a major Outer Harbour project, with an estimated investment of around 17,700 crore, as part of efforts to expand capacity and strengthen the port's position on India's east coast.The project is being revived in response to growing industrial activity in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states, rising transshipment requirements and the increasing deployment of larger, deeper-draft container vessels.
