New Delhi - In a significant move to enhance ease of doing business and accelerate the digitalisation of customs processes, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has discontinued the requirement for shipping lines to submit manual documents and statements for containers imported duty-free under Notification No. 104/94-Customs dated March 16, 1994.
The decision, issued through a new circular, aims to simplify customs compliance for shipping lines, Non-Vessel Owning Common Carriers (NVOCCs), steamer agents and their authorised representatives while reducing administrative burden and transaction costs . . .
