MUMBAI: The Bombay Custom House Agents Association (BCHAA) organized a get-together to felicitate and honour the newly posted and promoted Commissioners of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax on July 13, 2012 in Mumbai.
On behalf of the Association, Mr. Nailesh Gandhi welcomed MbPT Chairman Shri Rajeev Gupta and Commissioners of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax recently posted / prompted in Mumbai Zone.
In his inaugural speech, Mr. Gandhi briefed about the Association and his teamworks towards the success of BCHAA. He added, “BCHAA will be entering its 75th year this December with a strength of over 1400 plus members. The role of BCHAA has evolved with time and it covers all the prime activities at MbPT, JNPT, Mulund CFS, Air Cargo and Mumbai Customs Zone with special care.”
Further, the Association has to face lots of challenges and encourages the members to take interest, raise questions, redress grievances to enable the association to pursue issues vigorously and effectively with Government bodies. It also promotes and enhances the interests of the Custom House Agents in all matters including Inland and Foreign Trade, Shipping and Transport, Banking, Warehousing and Insurance and allied subjects.
The Association gives regular training to Senior Management and constantly upgrade its members’ capability to cater to their customers and cope with the global competition Mr. Gandhi also informed the gathering about the latest web based feature of STC system (Serve the CHA) which can auto inform a member about arrival of an import container from Port terminal to respective CFS. While some CFS’s have already started providing necessary data, he urged the rest to follow the suit, which will go a long way in facilitating their members in keeping a track of container movement.
He also thanked Hind Terminals for providing Ambulance Service at Hind Terminals CFS on BCHAA request and this service will increase safety to the visitors of CFS and incase of emergency, the injured can be shifted to the nearby hospital for further treatment. Further, he urged we feel proud of the Association and also thanked all the member for helping BCHAA to move ahead.
Mr. Nailesh Gandhi felicitated Shri Rajeev Gupta, MbPT Chairman with a bouquet. Shri Rajeev Gupta urged that BCHAA play a pivotal role in all prospects and congratulated the newly promoted Commissioners in Mumbai Zone. “The Association is being very curtious with Mumbai Port and also supported us to facilitate the trade activities in good manner” quipped Shri Gupta.
The BCHAA felicitated and welcomed Mr. P. K. Agrawal, Commissioner of Customs (General), Mumbai, Mr. K. C. Gupta, Commissioner (Appeals), JNCH, Mr. Hemant Bhatt, Commissioner, Service Tax, Mr. Naresh Penumaka, Addl. D. G. (NACEN), Mr. Ashutosh Baranwal, Commissioner of Customs (Import), Mumbai, Mr. Yogendra Garg, Commissioner of Customs (Export), Mumbai, Mr. Ram Nivas, Commissioner, Adjudication, Mumbai, Mr. Ravinder Saroop, Commissioner of Customs (Import ), ACC, Sahar and Mr. Nishit Goyal, Commissioner, Central Excise.
The newly posted Commissioners thanked BCHAA for organizing such an event to honour and welcome them and urged the association is serving the trade community in good way. BCHAA are the eyes and ears of Customs Department so we all are here to serve and help you better in all ways we can.
Mr. Nailesh Gandhi took this opportunity to honour Mr. Shantanu Bhadkamkar, who has been recently appointed as Managing Director of International Federation of Customs Brokers Association (IFCBA).
Receiving the bouquet from Mrs. Sonal Gandhi, Mr. Bhadkamkar urged that it was a great honour to be here and getting an appreciation from BCHAA.
BCHAA delivered a special thank to Mr. Susheel Tyagi, Regional Manager, Central Warehousing Corporation – who would be attaining superannuation on 31st instant, who supported the association and committed towards the Association for 23 years. Receiving a bouquet, Mr. Tyagi said, This felicitation meant a lot to him and its memories will remain with him forever.
Mr. Gandhi pointed out that this evening would be incomplete without thanking Ms. Shobha L. Chary and Mr. C. S. Prasad, who worked with us and helped our Association to run smoothly in coordination.
Mr. Gandhi said the most important thing towards my heart while working with them was introduction of ‘Biometric Smart Card’ for the first time in Indian Customs and BCHAA also participated with assisting members to make online and error free applications for the same through its website.
Mr. Nailesh Gandhi thanked all the trade members and committees for the cooperation and support given to BCHAA.
