MUMBAI: The Association of Multimodal Transport Operators of India which is popularly known as AMTOI conducted its 13th Annual General Meeting on September 17, 2012 at Taj President Mumbai.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Anand Sheth outgoing President said, “AMTOI is the only organization that brings together all players in the logistics supply chain for its smooth functioning in order to provide the best of services to its customers”.
On this occasion, Mr Anand Sheth felicitated Dr. S. B Agnihotri (IAS) with a memento for his valuable contribution in promoting the concept of Multimodalism in India. Further he also presented bouquet's to Mr D T Joseph and Mr M P Pinto, Former Secretaries Ministry of Shipping who were present.
He added, Dr Agnihotri was the Jt. DG and the DG Shipping between 2009 through 2012 during which the Multimodal Transport Industry and the Directorate of Shipping saw some path breaking policy decision's which helped the industry at large. His support to the Maritime Fraternity has galvanized the industry to move ahead in full steam.
Prior to this a presentation was made by Senior Partner of Ernst & Young Mr Biren Parekh on the Way Forward for the Multimodal and Logistics Industry.
A White Paper aptly titled as “Logi(sti)cally Speaking” was released at the function and speaking at the function Mr Tushar Jani, Past President of AMTOI said that this was an outcome of several brainstorming sessions of the working group constituted specially to create this Vision 2020 document.
On behalf of AMTOI, Mr Tushar Jani expressed that, Mr. Anand Sheth through his dedication and hard work took the Association to greater heights during his term as President. He stated that he made all impossible things possible at AMTOI and that his successors would have to climb Mt. Everest to maintain the high standards and achievements set by him.
The gathering was well attended by the dignitaries of the Govt and other representatives of D G Shipping, Customs, Ports, Terminals, various trade bodies and well wishers.
