MUMBAI: Passenger Terminal Amsterdam has won the title of Port of the Year in the Seatrade Awards. Two other candidates were in the running: Leixoes in Portugal and San Francisco in the United States. The Seatrade Awards are the most prestigious accolades in the cruise world. They are presented in different categories to cruise Ports that are distinctive from their counterparts. Passenger Terminal Amsterdam has invested in facilities for crews over the past years. The crews of arriving cruise ships are ambassadors for the city of Amsterdam. In addition to nearly 300,000 passengers, some 90,000 cruise ship crew members visit Amsterdam each year. The crew pass has been developed this year in association with NV Zeedijk, an organisation that promotes the development of the Zeedijk area in central Amsterdam that has traditionally been the sailors’ quarter. Various shops located on the Zeedijk offer crew members discounts on their purchases using the crew pass. The aim is to expand the programme next year to include more shops and businesses.

Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA) is one of North-western Europe’s leading cruise Ports. A total of 142 cruise ships will call on the Port in 2015, many of which have Amsterdam as their departure point and destination. PTA is a joint venture between NS Vastgoed and Port of Amsterdam.
