Adani Hazira Port to be commissioned on Aug. 1, 2012

MUMBAI : The  Adani Hazira Container Terminal – a new gateway of opportunities to the trade has been launched and will be commissioned on August 1, 2012. Adani Hazira Port Pvt. Ltd. organized a meeting with shipping lines on June 18, 2012 in Mumbai and enlightened the trade about the recent developments and future plans of the Hazira port.
 
Talking about the new venture, Capt. Anil  Kishore Singh, Business Head, Adani Hazira Port Pvt. Ltd. said, “The new Adani Hazira Container Terminal will soon emerge as the most opportune Gateway of  North  West  India”.
 
Talking about the Port plans, he added the port has already handled 1 bulk vessel on May 21, 2012. In the first phase, the port will have 2 container berths which will become operational by August 2012.
 
Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd is the largest private port operator in India, operating ports / terminal in Mundra, Dahej, Goa and Visakhapatnam.
 
The new Adani Hazira Port is the developer and operator of a deep draft private commercial port. It is located at Surat under a sub-concession agreement with Hazira Port Private Ltd. (Shell B.V. and Gaz De France JV that operates an LNG terminal under a concession agreement with the Gujarat Government).
 
 
 
Capt. Sandeep Mehta, CEO, Containers & Logistics Business said, This is one of the important milestones at Hazira Port. We expect to replicate Mundra's success at Hazira by offering customers in South Gujarat, North Maharashtra and Central India,  a cost effective solution.
 
Mr. Harikrishnan Sundaram, AGM Business Development, APSEZ explained about the additional infrastructure expected to be established at the container terminal.  He pointed out, the container terminal proposes to have an additional 2 quay cranes and 4 RTGs that have already been ordered. Also the distance from different locations like Vadodara, Surat, Ankleshwar, Bharuch etc and focused on strategic and ideal location of Adani Hazira Port.
 
Maintaining that, Kribhco railhead facility is close to the terminal at a distance of around 16 km. The direct rail connectivity to the port is still under construction, he added, The Container Terminal is connected with the four-laned NH-6, which is expected to be
 
six laned for which work is in progress. Besides, the port is also establishing a dedicated railway siding, which will be connected with the Indian railway network at Surat.
 
Further, the terminal has four Post Panamax Quay Cranes which arrived on June 16, 2012. The additional two cranes are expected by March 2013. On Dock CFS for container stacking with all facilities including 1,50, 000 Sq.Ft warehouse which is expected to start in mid-July 2012.
 
Capt. C. V. Ramnath, Head of Container Terminal at Hazira spoke about the web access to the terminal operating system with electronic invoicing facilities.
 
Congratulating the Adani Group, Mr. Mukesh Oza, Samsara Group, President & CEO said, “The new terminal at Hazira will be a huge success and we will be participating in a proper manner. Mundra & Hazira put together will be the new gateway of opportunities for India”.
 
Capt. Chopra, Executive Director, Shipping Corporation of India also congratulated the Adani Group for launching the Adani Hazira Container Terminal. He further informed SCI will be bringing their first vessel at Adani Hazira Port.
