Mumbai: Allcargo Logistics has bagged the contract from Reliance Infrastructure Limited to handle and transport 66 units of Super Over Dimension Cargo (SODC) from various ports in India to Sasan Power Limited, a part of Reliance Power.

Sasan Power iscommissioning a 3,960 Megawatt (MW) thermal Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP) in a nearby area of Sasan village under Singrauli Tehsil of Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh.

The power plant will have a capacity of generating 3,960 MW of electricity through six units, each having a capacity of 660 MW, a release by Allcargo said.

To execute the project, Allcargo Logistics has been assigned the responsibility of transportation, Customs clearance and port handling of various power plant machineries like generator-stator, de-aerator, transformer sets, etc.

Some of the oversized cargoes like generator-stator were as heavy as 345 tonnes, de-aerator having a length of 43 meters and transformers of dimensions of 6.2m X 6m X 5m, the release explained.

For the transportation of heavy machineries over the Sone River, a bypass was fabricated as the design and structure of the bridge was not meant to support such huge structures. The 1-100-meter bypass was built in a record time of 26 days, which made the movement of heavy machineries possible.

With extreme precautionary steps and strategic and systematic planning undertaken by Allcargo, the logistics movement of the generator-stator and other equipment were being successfully delivered in an efficient and effective manner, it said.

Allcargo Logistics has so far handled 7 of the 9 power projects of Reliance Group in the last six years, and is proud to be a leading innovative partner in India's infrastructure and power growth story.
