NEW DELHI: Shri Anurag Jain, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Govt. of India, said that the National Logistics Policy (NLP) has indeed helped in improving the quality of planning and implementing infrastructure projects in the Country. The NLP was launched by the Prime Minister on 17th October this year and was hailed as a step towards improving the logistics efficiency of the country, and making India globally competitive.

Jain said that the actual results after implementation of the NLP are better than what was expected at the time of planning and reviewing. As per feedback of various departments, the NLP has benefit the infrastructure development. He also said that the quality of planning has improved a lot leading to cost optimisation, while also giving a scope of saving time in further implementation.

While launching the NLP the Prime Minister said that the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan will work in coordination and in support of the NLP. The PM Gati Shakti Portal will digitise the information related to all infra development projects of Central and State, equivalent to 1500 layers of data. The information will result in improved planning, speeding up of clearances, and reduction in infra gaps.

The Gati Shakti National Master Plan was launched towards the end of 2021 and was aimed at developing an integrated infrastructure to reduce logistic costs. The project brought 

16 Ministries including Railways and Roadways together for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects. All logistics and connectivity infrastructure projects, entailing an investment of over Rs 500 crore were routed through the network planning group constituted under the PM Gati Shakti initiative.
